Power Restored as Ocean City Escapes Worst of the Flooding
Tides topped out at about seven inches above what they were Monday morning at high tide Tuesday morning.
Power has been restored to 329 Atlantic City Electric customers who were without power between 20th and 26th streets early Tuesday morning, according to the outage map posted on the energy company’s website.
The outages were reported just before 7:30 a.m. and were due to high winds and heavy rain. Power was fully restored around 11 a.m.
The outbound lanes of Route 52 (9th Street Causeway) were closed due to flooding earlier Tuesday, but reopened as of 1:15 p.m.

Tidal heights were about six inches above what they were on Monday morning during Tuesday morning’s high tide, according to the Office of Emergency Management Director Frank Donato.
Ocean City saw a four-foot tide on Monday. The tide was 4.5 feet on Tuesday, but forecasts called for about five feet, which Donato said would’ve put the City in line with the nor’easter of 2009.

“It’s typical nor’easter flooding, nothing people aren’t used to,” Donato said. ”The heaviest amount of rain was overnight during low tide and tapered off before high tide this morning.”
There were no incidents reported to the Ocean City Police Department Tuesday morning.
Ocean City schools were closed on Tuesday, according to a post on the district’s website.
The Hispanic Community School Awareness meeting at the Primary School was postponed.
