“Our homecoming game will be against a very tough Millville team,” Ocean City head coach Kevin Smith said. “We’re asking that everyone come out and create a great home environment for us to return to after four straight games on the road.”

Halftime will feature a mini-game between the Ocean City Junior Red Raiders and the Upper Township Indians taxi squads, which are comprised of first and second graders. Seventh and eighth grade players from each of the programs are invited to the sidelines for pregame.

All youth football players are encouraged to wear their jerseys.

Last August, the Raiders hosted players from the Ocean City and Upper Township youth football programs at the second annual Red & White Night.

At that event high school players practiced from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Upper’s Caldwell Park. Youth players ranging in age from 5 to 14 and their coaches joined the high school players and coaching staff for another hour of drills.

“With a majority of the Upper Township Indian players attending and playing football at Ocean City High School, we feel it is important to have even our youngest players interact with the high school players,” Upper Township Football Association President Dave Krause said.

At the end of the group practice, players and families shared a BBQ hosted by the Ocean City Red Raider Football Association, the high school football booster club.

Ocean City High School is comprised of students from Ocean City, Upper, Corbin City and Sea Isle City, as well as school choice students.

Upper Township’s youth football program, part of the Cape Atlantic Junior Football league, draws from Upper and Corbin City, and is open to players from Ocean City and Sea Isle.

Ocean City’s youth program is part of the Atlantic County Junior Football League, and is open to Upper, Sea Isle and Ocean City children.
