Registration Opens For Holiday House Decorating Contest In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, NJ — If you love decorating for Christmas, here's your chance to show off. Ocean City is hosting a holiday house decorating contest, and there's a number of categories you can win.

Registration is now open and closes at noon on Dec. 14. Between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 15, judges will check out the decorations and vote for the best.

There will be a first place winner in each category and each winner gets a $50 gift gift certificate to Downtown Ocean City. A first place winner will also be named in the Ocean City Business Division and will receive a free membership to the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce.

On Dec. 16, photos of all entries will be posted to social media so that you can vote for the People's Choice Award. Voting closes Dec. 18.

All participating houses will be posted online too so you can tour the island and check out the homes.

The categories are as follows, courtesy of Ocean City:

• Best Commercial (Commercial Display)
• Most Colorful (colorful lights, decorations, etc)
• Most Classic (think 'a scene from a postcard!')
• Most Festive (This is for the one's that really love Christmas!)
• Clark Griswold Award (Think it can be seen from space due to the amount of lights? Then this is your category!)
