Retired Ocean City Cop Pleads Not Guilty in Child Sex Assault Case
The attorney for Charles Cusack motioned for a dismissal of the case, according to the Ocean City Gazette.

Retired Ocean City Police Officer Charles Cusack pleaded not guilty to second-degree sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and official misconduct this week, the Ocean City Gazette reports.
Additionally, Cusack’s attorney filed a motion to have the case dismissed, according to the report.
Cusack is accused of having sexual contact with a young employee between 16 and 18 years old he supervised as a beach-tag inspector. He was arrested in August.

The official misconduct charge was added this month, and was the grounds for Cusack’s request to have the case dismissed, according to the report.
He told the Gazette it was unusual to add such charges on the very eve of the trial, but the prosecutor said the charges “fit the facts.”

Cusack was serving in his second season as supervisor in the beach-tag office. He retired from the police department in 2011 and was a resource officer at Ocean City High School for two years.
