Retired Ocean City Police Officer Charles Cusack has pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault, but is not expected to serve any jail time, the Ocean City Gazette reports.

Cusack reached a plea deal on Monday, just before his trial was set to begin, to avoid up to 10 years in state prison, according to the report.

Instead, he now faces probation and being placed on the state’s sex offender registry, according to the report. Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 18.
