Road To Miss America Begins With Miss NJ In Ocean City This Week
There will be four days of festivities surrounding the Miss New Jersey Pageant in Ocean City beginning Wednesday night.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — The road to Miss America begins with four days of festivities in Ocean City this week.
The Miss New Jersey Pageant will be held in Ocean City for the 22nd consecutive year, culminating with the crowning of a new Miss New Jersey on Saturday night, June 16. The winner of the pageant will represent New Jersey in the Miss America Pageant, Sept. 5-9 in Atlantic City.
The festivities begin with a free parade featuring all 28 Miss New Jersey contestants on Wednesday, June 13, 7 p.m. The parade proceeds from Sixth Street to 14th Street on the Ocean City Boardwalk.

This year’s theme is “Women in History,” and the contestants will be dressed accordingly. In a longstanding pageant tradition, they also will “show their shoes.” The parade also includes marching bands, entertainers, community groups and local business entries.
The competition begins with two nights of preliminary competition on Thursday, June 14, and Friday, June 15, 7 p.m. each night.

Reigning Miss New Jersey Kaitlyn Schoeffel (who was second runner-up in the Miss America Pageant) will crown her successor at the conclusion of the pageant on Saturday, June 16, 7 p.m.
Action News 6-ABC weather anchor Karen Rogers will host the pageant, which takes place at the Ocean City Music Pier, all three nights. Remaining tickets are $45 to $65 and available at www.showtix4u.com.
