Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident In Cape May County: Police

A man was killed when his motorcycle overturned on Route 47 Friday afternoon.

A Middle Township man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Route 47 in Cape May County Friday night, according to New Jersey State Police.

The accident happened at about 2:48 p.m. Friday afternoon when 57-year-old Jack Pfaff, of the Rio Grande section of the township, lost control of his motorcycle while traveling south on the shoulder near milepost 19.3 for Dennis Township, police said.

The motorcycle overturned, and Pfaff was ejected and hit the guardrail, police said. He died on the scene. The motorcycle struck a Mercedes ML 320. The driver of the car was uninjured.

The road was shut down in both directions between Tyler Road and Route 610 for about three and a half hours. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
