Sailboat Washes Up On Cape May County Beach After Owner Falls Asleep

The owner had anchored his boat, but it lost ground overnight, according to a report.

AVALON, NJ — A sailboat washed up on the beach on April 14 after the anchor lost ground overnight, according to a report by the Cape May County Herald. The boat's owner had anchored it and slept onboard overnight.

The boat, a Pearson 35, washed up on Avalon's beaches. The owner walked off the boat and onto the beach before the Coast Guard arrived, the news outlet reported.

The boat was towed up by Sea Tow Cape May and would not be salvaged, according to the report.
