Salaries Of Ocean City Mayor, Council Could Double
City Council is introducing an ordinance that would raise the maximum base salaries of the mayor and council for the first time since 2010.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City's mayor and council members haven't seen a salary increase since 2010. But that could soon change as City Council is set to introduce an ordinance that would nearly double their salaries.
The ordinance, first reported by the Ocean City Sentinel, would set the mayor's maximum annual base salary at $40,000 and the council's at $20,000. Presently, the mayor earns $20,600 and council $10,300, which was set in 2010.
Starting Jan. 1, 2025, the maximum salaries would then increase each year at the same percentage provided by collective bargaining agreements between Ocean City and city employees represented by the CWA, the Policemen's Benevolent Association and the International Association of Firefighters, according to the ordinance.

If those increases aren't the same across the board, the mayor and council would increase the same as the lowest percentage.
The ordinance will be introduced at the Aug. 10 meeting, held in City Hall at 6 p.m.
