School Board Honors Essay Contest Winners

Paige Broadley, Angel Severino and Alexandra Coste placed in the county's "Voices of Democracy" contest.

The Ocean City Board of Education on Wednesday night (Feb. 29) recognized sophomore Paige Broadley (first place), junior Angel Severino (second place) and sophomore Alexandra Coste (third place) for their achievements in the Cape May County Voice of Democracy Contest.

Voice of Democracy is a national essay and speech competition, created in 1947, that awards scholarships to competing students. Contestants delivered 3- to 5-minute speeches answering the question, "Is there pride in serving in our military?"

Ocean City swept the top three positions in the county competition.
