Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Ocean City 5/29: NWS

The thunderstorm warning lasts until 8:15 p.m., the National Weather Service says.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The National Weather Service put Ocean City on severe thunderstorm warning at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees and power lines, as well as minor vehicle damage may occur, the NWS said. The warning runs until 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials spotted severe thunderstorms along a line extending from near Hammonton to near Big Stone Beach, moving east at 50 mph. The storm includes 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail, the NWS said.

The severe thunderstorm warning applies to Cape May County, Atlantic County, southeastern Ocean County, southeastern Cumberland County and southeastern Burlington County.

Ocean City, as well as southern New Jersey, remains under tornado watch until 9 p.m. Wednesday. Although the NWS says a tornado is not immediately likely, if one is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety including a sturdy structure such as a basement or small interior room.
