Shore Medical Center Auxiliary Donates $183,900 To Hospital

The Auxiliary celebrated decades of service, recognized longtime members and announced a new satellite membership program.

SOMERS POINT, NJ β€” The Auxiliary of Shore Medical Center hosted its annual check presentation on Jan. 22, announcing a $183,900 donation to support Shore Medical Center's patient care and growth. The event also celebrated decades of service and honored longtime members.

Lisa DiTroia, director of the Auxiliary, recognized members for their years of service, ranging from five to 50 years. The Auxiliary also launched a new satellite membership, designed to engage younger members and continue its legacy of volunteerism. The $183,900 contribution reflects the success of the Auxiliary’s fundraising efforts throughout the year.

These fundraising activities include community events, the hospital gift shop, and Auxiliary thrift shops in Somers Point and Marmora. These funds directly support initiatives that enhance patient care, improve facilities, and advance services across the hospital.

David Hughes, president and CEO of Shore Medical Center, expressed appreciation for the Auxiliary's impact.

"For 85 years, the Auxiliary has been such an important part of everything Shore Medical Center has achieved, and everything we will continue to achieve," Hughes said. He noted that their dedication has supported improvements from renovations to patient rooms, nursing stations, flooring, and investments in new technology.

Hughes added that the Auxiliary's support also contributes to national recognitions, such as Shore's recent Top Hospital award from The Leapfrog Group.

"As we celebrate our 85th anniversary, it is especially meaningful to recognize that the Auxiliary has been with us every step of the way," he said.

Shore Medical Center is also celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2026, a milestone shared with the Auxiliary.

"The Auxiliary’s contributions are not just financial; they represent thousands of volunteer hours, unwavering loyalty, and a deep belief in Shore’s mission," Hughes added. He expressed gratitude for their ongoing support for patients, staff, and the community.
