Shore Medical Honors Ocean City Nurse For Compassionate Care

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Shore Medical Center is recognizing an Ocean City woman for her passionate and exceptional care for patients. Deborah Pestalozzi, RN, of the medical center’s 4th Hayes floor is Shore’s 2018 Guardian Angel of the Month for August, the hospital announced on Monday.

The Guardian Angel Program was established to enable members of the community to say thank you to a special Shore caregiver through a donation to the medical center.

Recently a patient Pestalozzi cared for made a Grateful Patient donation in her honor, and had this to say about her: “I have always admired the work of nurses. They have a special calling! Thank you, Deborah, for the wonderful care you gave me.”

Pestalozzi initially joined Shore Medical Center in 2007 as a night shift nurse. She transferred to day shift in 2013. She works primarily with patients who are recovering from orthopedic and spine surgeries, and stroke.
Stacy Ross, RN-BC, BSN, nurse manager of the Advanced Spine and Orthopedic Institute at Shore, called Pestalozzi “an extremely conscientious nurse.”

“Deb is honest, hardworking, a team player and a patient advocate. She is passionate about what she believes in and expresses that passion,” Ross said.

A resident of Ocean City, Pestalozzi has three grown children and is expecting her first grand baby girl, Emma. She loves to walk on the boardwalk with her dog and sidekick, Jack.

The Guardian Angel program recognizes anyone who works at Shore Medical Center and makes an impact and difference in their care. Guardian Angels are recognized amongst their peers and are presented with a special Guardian Angel pin at Shore Medical Center’s annual pinning ceremony.
