Somers Point Man Sentenced For Filming Sex Act With Child

Tyrique Beckett, 31, must also register as a sex offender and will face parole supervision for life following his conviction.

SOEMRS POINT, NJ — A Somers Point man was sentenced to prison for secretly recording a sex act with a juvenile.

Tyrique Beckett, 31, was sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison.

The sentencing follows an investigation initiated by the Somers Point Police Department into reports of sexual conduct.

Police received the report regarding the defendant and a juvenile victim on Oct. 21, 2024.

Evidence gathered during the investigation showed that the defendant recorded the sex act on his cell phone. The victim was not aware that the recording was taking place at the time, authorities said.

Beckett entered a guilty plea to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child on Oct. 20, 2025.

Beckett a must register as a sex offender in accordance with Megan’s Law. and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
