Special Olympics Swim Meet for South Jersey Athletes in Ocean City Sunday
Over 60 athletes from Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties will participate in the meet.

Ocean City, NJ -- Athletes from across South Jersey will participate in a Special Olympics swim meet in Ocean City this weekend.
A total of 60 athletes from Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties will participate in the meet at 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, at the Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center.
The event for area athletes with intellectual disabilities includes an opening parade of champions, competitive events and podium awards ceremonies akin to the Summer and Winter Olympics.

The meet has been taking place for 20 years. Over that time, it has brought together a host of local athletes, along with community volunteers, city representatives and members of the Ocean City Firemen’s Mutual Benevolent Association Local No. 27, who help run the event.
The athletes remain true to the Special Olympics motto: “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”

Ocean City swimmer Sabrina Pullella will sing the national anthem to open the competition.
