At about 7:43 p.m. on July 29, the suspect reportedly walked into the store and told the clerk to put money in a bag.

He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with a bandana covering part of his face, and he kept his hands in the front pouch of his sweatshirt.

The clerk responded by grabbing a baseball bat from behind the counter and chasing the suspect out the door.

The attempted robber fled south on Asbury Avenue, and the store owner stopped chasing him.
