Street Rods, Other Classic Cars Return Ocean City Next Weekend
Street Rod Weekend is returning to the Tabernacle and the Boardwalk next weekend.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City’s annual Street Rod Weekend is set for Sept. 7 and 8, city officials announced this week. Street rods are classic cars (1988 or older) modified with modern parts. They will be on display along with other classic cars during the event.
Registration to participate is still open with forms available at www.ocnj.us/carshow. Event-day check-in and registration will be held at the Ocean City Tabernacle (550 Wesley Avenue) from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. To be judged, all cars must be registered by 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8. Pre-registration is $30 per car.
A sock-hop will take place on Friday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Tabernacle. There will be dancing, family fun, bubble-gum-blowing and hula hoop contests.
Cars will be on display at the Tabernacle from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 8, before moving to the Ocean City Boardwalk, where they will be on display until 4 p.m.

An awards ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. in front of the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Additionally, “Under the Streetlamp” will perform with the Ocean City Pops on Sept. 8 and Sept. 9. Tickets for that show are on sale now for $30 to $45 and are available at the Ocean City Music Pier Box Office, by visiting oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice or by calling 609-399-6111.
