Superheroes Invade Ocean City Music Pier For OC-Con June 28-30

OC-Con moves to June from its traditional early spring dates this year.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The superheroes are returning to Ocean City, but they will be later than usual. Now in its third year, the OC-Con Comic and Memorabilia Festival will take place in June, as opposed to the early spring, as it did in its first two years. The OC-Con Comic and Memorabilia Festival will take place June 28-30 at the Ocean City Music Pier, city officials announced this week.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, June 7, for exclusive photo and autograph sessions with two special guests. Dylan Sprayberry (“Teen Wolf”) and Titus Welliver (“Bosch”) will be part of this year’s event.

Sprayberry is best known for portraying Liam Dunbar in MTV’s flagship drama series “Teen Wolf.” The 19-year-old star began his acting career at a young age, but his breakout role came in 2013 when he won the role of young Clark Kent in “Man of Steel,” the first film in Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe.

Welliver portrays Los Angeles Police Department Detective Harry Bosch on the first hour-long drama produced by Amazon Prime Video. Filming for the fourth season of “Bosch” was recently completed, and the show already has been picked up for a fifth season. His credits also include roles in HBO’s “Deadwood,” ABC’s “Lost” and CBS’s “The Good Wife.”

Exclusive meet-and-greet sessions ($15 for photo or autograph, $20 for both) will follow at 6 p.m.

Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango from Syfy Channel’s hit shows “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters Academy” will be on hand on Friday, June 29, to greet fans and participate in an interactive live presentation (both included in admission price).

OC-Con features meet-the-artist sessions, discussion panels, costume contests, and the display and sale of comic books and memorabilia. Show hours will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 28; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 29; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 30.

There will also be a one-mile OC-Con Superhero Run at Carey Stadium at 9 a.m. on June 30. It will be followed by the Superhero Obstacle Dash for 12-and-unders at 10 a.m. Both events are on the track at Carey Stadium (beach block of Sixth Street).

Run registration fee is $15 for adults ($20 on race-day) and includes admission to the show (for Saturday, June 30) and a T-shirt. The fee for 12-and-unders is $10 and includes the Obstacle Dash, as well as admission and a T-shirt. Register online.
