Surf Team Bash Includes Food, Footage and a Chance to Win Boards
The Ocean City High School Surf Team Scholarship Fundraiser is set for Friday, Feb. 24, at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point.
A wooden longboard handcrafted by Ocean City carpenter Mike Lukens and a board designed by local shaper Brian Wynn will be among the raffle prizes at a fundraiser for the Ocean City High School surf team on Friday, Feb. 24.
The event takes place 7 to 10 p.m. at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point and benefits scholarships for the team.
Tickets ($30) are available at Surfers Supplies and 7th Street Surf Shop and include a buffet and live music by The Mighty Parrots. Raffles ($5 tickets) include surfboards donated by Lukens, Wynn, Roots and other local businesses. The event also includes door prizes and giveaways.

Surf films and vintage Ocean City surfing footage (pre 1970) will be shown throughout the evening.

The raffle longboard designed by Lukens is made of white and red cedar strips around a hollow core. Fiberglass and epoxy give it strength and a fine finish.
The Ocean City High School team won its 18th consecutive National Scholastic Surfing Association Northeast Championship in October 2011.
