Suspects Captured In Ocean City Wawa Armed Robbery

Two Pennsylvania men were arrested in Atlantic City and charged in last week's armed robbery.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Two Pennsylvania men have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Wawa in Ocean City, police announced. Tariq Jackson, 18, and Joseph Lee, 19, both of Hummelstown, Pa., were arrested in Atlantic City on Dec. 30, according to the Ocean City Police Department.

They are accused of robbing the Wawa at 1250 West Avenue just before 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 29. There were two employees in the store at the time, and they said the suspects approached them and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, they left the store. There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery. They said the suspects were armed.

Later that day, Ocean City police posted surveillance imagesof the suspects on social media. They also used the images to check area hotels, and eventually found Jackson and Lee.

Once police found them, detectives said they positively identified them with help from the Hummelstown Police Department. Jackson and Lee were then arrested at Caesar’s Atlantic City Hotel and Casino. They were previously staying at Watsons Regency. No weapon was recovered during the arrest.

They were both charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Jackson was also charged with aggravated assault.
