Jersey Shore Teen Charged In Fatal DUI Crash: Prosecutor

One man was killed and another seriously injured in the Lower Township crash, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.

LOWER TWP., NJ — A 19-year-old man was charged in connection with a DUI crash that killed one man and left another seriously injured, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.

Edward McVey, of Erma, was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide (DUI), third-degree assault by auto (DUI) and fourth-degree assault by auto (handheld device) in the Oct. 1 crash.

McVey's vehicle collided with another vehicle containing two passengers on Route 9 in the Erma section of Lower Township, authorities said.

The crash resulted in the death of a 56-year-old man, authorities said. A 36-year-old man was seriously injured, according to officials.

McVey was taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility on Oct. 2, where he remains pending future court proceedings.
