There's an App For That: Parking Made Easier in Ocean City
Parkmobile introduces an app for paying parking meters in Ocean City.

Ocean City, NJ –- Leaving the Boardwalk in the middle of having fun and running the car to pay for parking, hoping to beat a police officer handing out parking tickets doesn’t have to be the reality of a vacation in Ocean City anymore. Neither does searching for change in your pockets.
Parkmobile, LLC is bringing its mobile payments solution to Ocean City, City officials said on Wednesday.
Anyone parking in the city will be able to use the app at all 1,800 on- and off-street parking spaces throughout Ocean City.

Customers can pay to park with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, Windows, Amazon, and Blackberry phones, or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers.
“The new technology provides another convenience for our residents and guests,” Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian said.

Ocean City’s meter rates remain unchanged for the 2016 season, which officially runs May 1 through Oct. 31.
Parkmobile’s customers first must register either by downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store or online at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet, or the toll-free number to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone.
“We are very happy to introduce our service to Ocean City,” Parkmobile CEO Jon Ziglar said. “Our service provides customers with an enhanced parking experience by eliminating the need to use a card or coins at the meter, making paying easier and more efficient than ever.”
Customers will also receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, be able to extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, use credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, and print and keep receipts for parking.
Additionally, enforcement officers will be able to see that a customer has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices.
Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option and is intended to complement existing parking payment options.
All existing forms of payment are still valid for use.
Parkmobile’s services have been adopted in more than 2,000 locations, including 35 of the top 100 cities in the U.S. by millions of registered users.
Parkmobile’s services include on-street parking, off-street parking deck, airport and event reservations and municipal parking permit solutions.
