Things to Know About Ocean City's Council Meeting
Some things you may have missed from last week's meeting.

Here are some items you may have missed during last week’s Ocean City Council meeting:
1. Ocean City Council approved pay raises for some municipal employees with a pair of 7-0 votes.
The first approved ordinance deals with salary increases for the directors of financial management, police services and fire and rescue services. It includes a 1.5 percent increase to the base salary pay effective Jan. 1, 2015, and a 1.25 percent increase each of the next three years.

The second ordinance proposes a 1.5 percent increase for the City Clerk as of Jan. 1, 2015; and a 1.25 percent increase each of the next three years.
2. City Council approved a contract totaling $32,597 for TriState HAVC Equipment LLC for emergency repairs to the HVAC system at the Aquatic and Fitness Center. City Business Administrator Jim Mallon said the equipment is on the roof and is always dealing with the elements. He said the system is between 8 and 10 years old. Councilman Anthony Wilson said he life expectancy for these types of systems exposed to the air in Ocean City is about seven years.

3. City Council approved a $19,050 contract for North Star Appraisal Company for the appraisal of properties on an as-needed basis. The City has multiple companies authorized to do appraisals, and each company is consulted each time an appraisal is needed.
4. Ocean City recognized the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a group of volunteers who are trained for emergency situations. It was established in Ocean City in 2005 and there are over 100 members who have been trained, according to Emergency Management Coordinator Frank Donato. A total of 23 people were recognized this year, including:
