Toll Increase On Cape May County Bridges Begins
Commuters traveling five Cape May County bridges will notice a 50 cent increase in tolls.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — A toll increase went into effect on Cape May County bridges on Tuesday, according to a report by OCNJ Daily.
The increase is for five bridges linking Ocean City to Cape May. They are Ocean City-Longport Bridge, Townsends Inlet Bridge, Corsons Inlet Bridge, Middle Thorofare Bridge and Grassy Sound Bridge.
The Cape May County Bridge Commission voted back in January to implement a three-stage toll increase to maintain the aging bridges, according to the report.

From 2022 to 2024, the tolls will increase by 50 cents each year, finishing with a total of $3.
Some of the bridges date back to the 1930s and 40s, the news outlet said, so they need increased revenue to help maintain them.

Car tolls will increase and so will truck tolls. When the full increase is implemented, truck rates will range from $4.25 to $14.25.
Cape May County bridges have not increased tolls since 2009, and not since 1988 before that, said the publication.
