Train To Be An Election Poll Worker In Ocean City April 18

There are three big election days on the horizon in Ocean City in 2018.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Cape May County Board of Elections will hold a training session on April 18 in the Christopher Maloney Lecture Hall at the Ocean City Free Public Library, city officials announced on Thursday. The session begins at noon.

Anyone who may be interested in being a Cape May County Poll Worker should RSVP to the Cape May County Election Board 609-465-1050. For more information, call the Ocean City Clerk’s Office at 609-525-9326.

Ocean City residents will head to the polls three times in 2018. First up are the May 8 non-partisan municipal elections. John Flood will challenge incumbent Jay Gillian in the race for the mayor’s seat. Three council members are also up for election this year, but they are running unopposed.

It’s also a mid-term election year, and the Second Congressional District is getting attention nationally after longtime Republican incumbent Frank LoBiondo announced in November he would be retiring at the end of this year. The Democratic and Republican primaries will be held June 5.

The Democratic Primary will include State. Sen. Jeff Van Drew, retired teacher Tanzie Youngblood, ex-Congressional aide Will Cunningham and Nate Kleinman.

The Republican Primary will include former State Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi, defense contractor Brian Fitzherbert, former Atlantic County Freeholder Seth Grossman, businessman Hirsch Singh, retired FBI agent Robert Turkavage.

Other candidates, including Libertarian John Ordille and independent candidate Anthony Parisi, are also running for the seat, but will not be involved in the primaries. The general elections are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Below is the list of polling locations used in Ocean City:

First Ward:

1-1: Ocean City Yacht Club, Bay Road
1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5: St. Frances Cabrini Church, 114 Atlantic Avenue

Second Ward:
2-1, 2-5: 8th Street Recreation Center, 8th Street and Haven Avenue
2-2, 2-3, 2-4: Civic Center, 901 6th Street (parking on 5th Street)

Third Ward:
3-1: Wesley Manor, 2201 Bay Avenue
3-2, 3-3, 3-4: Ocean City Library, 1735 Simpson Avenue
3-5: The Atrium of the Ocean City Library, 1735 Simpson Avenue (use front entrance on Simpson Avenue)

Fourth Ward:
4-1, 4-3, 4-4, 4-5: Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish Hall, 40th and Central Avenue
4-2: American Legion Post 524, 3304 Bay Avenue
