Trump To Hold Campaign Rally On Jersey Shore Beach This Weekend

Former President Donald Trump is coming to the beach in Wildwood on May 11 for a campaign rally. Here's what to know:

WILDWOOD, NJ — It's not quite the busy summer season yet, but you can expect a lot of traffic this weekend in Wildwood as former President Donald Trump pays a visit.

Trump will be holding a "Make America Great Again!" campaign rally on the beach at 5 p.m. on May 11, city officials announced. Gates are tentatively scheduled to open at 12 p.m.

"What a great boost to our town at the start of the summer season!" Mayor Ernie Troiano, Jr. and Commissioners Steve Mikulski and Krista McConnell said in a joint statement. "We host hundreds of large capacity events annually, so the City is ready to welcome the crowds and looks forward to making the weekend successful for everyone."

Visitors to Wildwood should be aware that traffic lights are on the regular cycle and that parking meters will be active as of May 9. Officials anticipate delays and detours on Saturday. There will be a drop-off/car share location between Schellenger and Cedar on Atlantic Avenue. No parking is allowed on boardwalk street ends from Schellenger to Spicer Avenue.

City officials have also released a list of items prohibited by the United States Secret Service. These include weapons, alcohol, bags over a certain size, signs, chairs, umbrellas and coolers. See the full list of banned items here.

Officials voiced their excitement over having the former president and presumptive Republican nominee visit Wildwood.

"Amidst an already exciting Mother's Day weekend filled with events and businesses opening for the 2024 summer season, we are excited to see that these festivities not only offer a vibrant experience for our community, but also provide invaluable support to our local businesses," said Tracey Boyle-DuFault, executive director of the Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce. "We eagerly anticipate the positive impact these special events will bring to our region."
