Coast Guard Investigating Plane Crash off Atlantic City Coast
A single-engine craft crashed seven miles southeast of Atlantic City, according to state police.

The Coast Guard is investigating the crash of a Mooney M20 single-engine aircraft that crashed about 20 miles southeast of Atlantic City Thursday afternoon.
The aircraft was en route to Atlantic City International Airport after departing from Gaylord, Michigan, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. It is unknown how many people were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash.
The aircraft was discovered by New Jersey State Police boat members, who initially reported it as “debris,” according to New Jersey State Police.

The Coast Guard was on the scene around 3:29 p.m. A helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City, a 47-foot boat from Station Atlantic City, a 25-foot boat from Greater Egg and the 87-foot Ibis from Cape May are on the scene, according to the Coast Guard. New Jersey State Police are assisting.
