'Wildwood' TV Show In The Works By 'Derry Girls' Creator

WILDWOOD, NJ — It's time for Wildwood to get its turn on the small screen.
A new comedy series, "Wildwood," is in the works by the creator of the award-winning Irish comedy series "Derry Girls," Lisa McGee.
20th Century and FX won the show in what Deadline described as a "very competitive situation." It's described as a spiritual successor to "Derry Girls."

"Wildwood" focuses on a group of Irish college girls in the summer of 2000 as they descend on the iconic Jersey Shore town.
The show is currently in development, with McGee as creator and executive producer.

"Derry Girls" initially aired on Channel 4 in the U.K. It also is streaming on Netflix in the U.S.
It's unknown if "Wildwood" will actually film in Wildwood.
