Winners Announced In Esther Weil Competition In Ocean City

The Friends of the Ocean City Pops announced the winners of the eighth annual competition.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Friends of the Ocean City Pops have announced the eight winners of the eighth annual Esther Weil Student Competition, which took place on the Music Pier on Wednesday, May 2. A total of 25 students from Cape May and Atlantic Counties competed, with the winners taking home $3,800.

This money was originally provided by long time Pops benefactor Esther Weil. The prize money is now granted by the Scheible Encore Society. Here are the results:

  • Zachary Taglioli, 1st place, $1,000, Hammonton High School
  • Grace Mozitis, 2nd place, $500, Mainland Regional High School
  • Alan Rendzak, 3rd place, $250, Middle Township High School
  • Hannah Rose Zoltowski, $150, Middle Township High School

Instrumental Winners:

  • Aiden Seals, 1st place, Saxophone, $1,000, Mainland Regional High School
  • Dennis Xu, 2nd place, Piano, $500, Mainland Reg High School
  • Hans Derek Yu, 3rd place, Piano, $250, Egg Harbor Township High School
  • Quine Mei, 4th place, Piano, $150, Egg Harbor Twp High School
