Work To Begin This Week On Road And Drainage Project In Ocean City, Mayor Says

The project between 26th and 34th streets will begin after a low-bidder's challenge was defeated in Superior Court.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The drainage project between 26th and 34th streets in Ocean City will begin as soon as possible after a judge ruled in the city’s favor on a dispute, Mayor Jay Gillian announced on Wednesday.

“You can expect to see equipment arrive by next week,” Gillian said. “In addition to paving, the project will replace and add capacity to an aging storm drain system and use four new pumping stations to improve drainage. Work is expected to take three to four months.”

Superior Court Judge Christopher Gibson ruled in the city’s favor in awarding the contract to A.E. Stone for the road and drainage project.

Pillari Bros. Construction Company out of Monmouth County was the low bidder, but was disqualified because it failed to list its subcontractors in the paperwork, according to the Ocean City Gazette. A.E. Stone was awarded the contract on Feb. 8.

Pillari Bros. challenged the decision in court, but their challenge was denied.
