Worker Dead After Fall At Gillian's Wonderland Pier

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A welder working at Gillian's Wonderland Pier died Monday after suffering a fatal injury.

Robert W. Sanger, 62, of Pittsgrove, fell from a lift at Gillian's while working, Ocean City spokesman Doug Bergen said.

Ocean City Fire Department EMTs responded to a call at 10:32 a.m., Bergen said. Sanger was taken to Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Bergen said.

Pier President and Ocean City Mayor Jay A. Gillian said that the park is cooperating with authorities as an investigation is underway. The fall is being investigated by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
