PARAMUS, NJ — The Paramus Fire Department is reminding residents to take precautions as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to impact air quality across the region.
In a public advisory, the department encourages residents to keep windows and doors closed, use air conditioning when possible, limit prolonged outdoor activities, and stay hydrated during the hot weather.
Residents may notice hazy skies and an unusual smell of smoke today as wildfire smoke from Canada moves into the area, affecting air quality across northern New Jersey. The National Weather Service has also issued an Air Quality Alert.
Officials suggest that children, older adults, and individuals with asthma or other respiratory conditions consider limiting prolonged outdoor activity until the smoke clears.
