Bergen County Man Charged With Possessing Child Sex Abuse Materials

A Maywood man, 55, was charged with possessing materials showing the sexual abuse of children.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 55-year-old Maywood man was charged last week with possession of child sex abuse material, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

Prosecutors said that Keith J. Balasa was arrested on Friday in Paramus and charged with one count of the third-degree crime.

On Friday, membrs of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at Balasa's home "during a months-long Internet child sexual abuse material investigation," according to a release.

According to the press release from the Prosecutor's Office, Balasa "used the internet to view, download and possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children."

Balasa was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

Prosecutor Mark Musella thanked the Maywood Police Department for its assistance, as well as the Washington Township Police Department, which participates in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
