2 Killed After Mustang Rolls Over On Rt. 4: Prosecutor

Two people died after the car flipped over and crashed in a parking lot at the Bergen Town Center early Sunday morning, authorities said.

PARAMUS, NJ — Two Garfield women died after a fatal motor vehicle crash early Sunday morning at the Bergen Town Center on Route 4 East, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced.

Police officers responded to the shopping center shortly after 1 a.m. on reports of a 2001 Ford Mustang rolled over, Grewal said in a news release.

All four occupants had been ejected from the Ford and were found near the vehicle; one of occupants, a 19-year-old woman was dead when police arrived, the prosecutor said.

The other three victims, two Garfield women and a 23-year-old Paterson man were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center; one of the women died from her injuries at the hospital, Grewal said.

The other woman remains at the hospital and the man was treated and released, Grewal said.

Authorities did not release the identities of the four people, pending further investigation and notifying next of kin, the prosecutor said.

Authorities are investigating the crash and have not determined if any charges would be filed. The Paramus Police Department and the Bergen County Sheriff's Office are assisting with the investigation.
