New York–based trumpeter Andrew Wagner is an emerging voice in straight-ahead jazz, recognized for his warm tone, thoughtful phrasing and deep respect for the tradition. A graduate of William Paterson University, Wagner studied with acclaimed trumpeter Jeremy Pelt and is a recipient of the prestigious James Moody Jazz Scholarship.
Wagner has performed at celebrated venues including the Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club, Smalls, The Django, Birdland and Cellar Dog, sharing the stage with artists such as Christian McBride, Winard Harper, Joe Farnsworth, Nat Reeves and Jerry Weldon. Rooted in the language of bebop and inspired by masters such as Clifford Brown, his music carries the tradition forward with youthful energy, swing and a distinctive voice of his own.
