Couple Stabbed Ex-Boyfriend's German Shepherd In Fort Lee: Police

FORT LEE, NJ — A Paramus woman and her current boyfriend face animal cruelty and burglary charges after breaking into the Fort Lee residence of her ex-boyfriend, and attacking his dog.

According to a Fort Lee police report, the victim — who isn't named — received a call around midnight on Tuesday from the couple who, over the phone, "informed him that they were going to shoot him."

The duo, Leena Radwan, of Paramus, along with Joseph Valenti, of Kearny, were then seen on the victim's Ring doorbell entering his home, one of them armed with a knife, and attacking his dog, a German Shepherd.

Police arrived at the residence on Cumbermeade Road around 12:40 a.m., at which point the victim returned home. Upon entry, they were able to locate the dog, who "appeared to have been stabbed with a laceration to the left side of its body which appeared to be deep as he was bleeding profusely," police said.

The dog was transported to a local Animal Hospital for immediate medical care and was later expected to recover.

Radwan and Valenti had fled the scene by the time police arrived, but turned themselves in to Fort Lee police on Tuesday evening.

They are charged with burglary, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and cruelty to animals. Valenti faces an additional charge of making terroristic threats, according to Bergen County Jail records.

Bond had not been set for either Radwan or Valenti, who remained in Bergen County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.
