Former Bergen Football Star Jabrill Peppers Earns 3 All-Conference Awards

The potential Heisman Trophy candidate from Paramus Catholic has 67 tackles and 4 sacks this season.

Jabrill Peppers keeps on adding to his trophy case.

The four-time New Jersey sectional state champion won three awards and was named to the All-Big Ten defensive and special teams this year.

Peppers was named the Nagurski-Woodsen Defensive Player of the Year, the Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year, and the Rodgers-Dwight Return Specialist of the Year, the Big Ten officials announced Wednesday.

Peppers has 67 tackles, four sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble.

Some experts have him as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate, an award that almost always awarded to offensive players, mostly quarterbacks and running backs.

Peppers is also a finalist for the 2016 Jim Thorpe Award, which is given to the best defensive back in college football.

Peppers won four consecutive state group championships in high school, two for Don Bosco Prep and two for Paramus Catholic.
