Globetrotters to Hold Skills Camps in Paramus

Children will learn basketball skills and Globetrotters tricks.

Paramus kids can get hoops lessons from the Harlem Globetrotters this summer.

The basketball team is holding two days of skills camps at in July.

Blenda Rodriguez, a guard for the Globetrotters, said the camps are meant to teach children ages 6 through 14 confidence, condition, teamwork and fundamentals. They will perform traditional basketball drills but will also learn Globetrotters tricks like the magic circle.

The Paramus sessions will be on July 19 and 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Rodriguez has been with the Globetrotters for five years. A New York native, he attended Bergen Community College and lives in Englewood.

"Hopefully a lot of people can come out and meet me and my teammates," Rodriguez said.

Parents can sign their children up for sessions at 24-Hour Fitness or online. Sessions are $59 each.
