Idling Mercedes Stolen from Dunkin Donuts Lot

A 2004 Mercedes Benz E320 was stolen from the parking lot of the at 669 Route 17 South at 6am this morning, police said.

The owner parked the silver four-door in the Dunkin' Donuts lot at about 6am, and left the engine idling while he went inside for three minutes. When he exited the store, he saw a man, described as black, in his 30s, with black braids in the driver's seated, said Capt. Kevin Smith.

The owner ran to the car, but the driver backed up toward him in an attempt to hurt the owner, who injured his wrist trying to avoid being hit. The car pulled on to Route 17 South and escaped, police said.

The owner's injury was minor. Police are still looking for the car.
