Man Strikes 2 Women With Car In Paramus Parking Lot: Prosecutor
A man was backing out of a parking space when he struck two women with his car, pulled forward, and did it again, officials said.
PARAMUS, NJ — A Hackensack man was arrested after he struck two people with his car in a Paramus parking lot, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced.
Gary Mongelli is charged with assault by auto after, on Oct. 17, he hit a 65-year-old and 33-year-old woman with his car while backing out of a parking space at 224 Route 4 East.
According to the office, Mongelli was backing out of the space when he hit both victims, then moved his car forward before again backing out of the spot and striking the 33-year-old victim.

Authorities found the car stopped at the intersection of Shepherd Way and the entrance of the parking lot.
Both victims were transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries, authorities said.

The 65-year-old victim was treated and released on Oct. 20, but, as of the release of the news release on Oct. 23, the 33-year-old victim remained hospitalized but in stable condition.
Mongelli is scheduled for a first appearance in court on Friday, Nov. 6.
