Maternal And Family Center Opens At CarePlus Paramus Headquarters

The program aims to give maternal mental health more attention with a program providing specialty care, CarePlus said.

PARAMUS, NJ — Care Plus NJ is expanding operations at their Paramus headquarters.

In a news release, CarePlus announced the opening of the Maternal and Family Center. Staffed by experts who have received specialty training and certifications in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International (PSI), the program was established to meet the mental health care needs for women and families who are trying to conceive, currently pregnant or postpartum, or who have suffered grief or loss.

According to the release, the program provides specialty care with expertise in treating the whole family, including pregnancy in teens and young adults.

"Maternal mental health has never been given the attention that it deserves both within the mental health field and within our communities," said Daniel Finch, MD, PMH-C, Chief Medical Officer at CarePlus.

"It’s often considered a taboo topic, when in fact many women are left suffering in silence. Our program is designed to address all mental health issues in and around pregnancy, and to provide personalized and compassionate care to women and their families when they need it most."

Finch is the first and only physician in New Jersey to attain the perinatal mental health certification (PMH-C), which requires additional training in treating a woman's mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period, according to CarePlus.
