NJ Man Arrested In Fatal Paramus Hit-And-Run: Prosecutor

One man was arrested after the Prosecutor's Office said he struck and killed a pedestrian in Paramus on Thursday, before fleeing the scene.

PARAMUS, NJ — An Emerson man is on the run no more after the Prosecutor's Office announced his arrest in connection to a fatal hit-and-run crash in Paramus last week.

Michael Mascaro was arrested Saturday on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident and hindering apprehension.

According to authorities, Mascaro was the driver of a car that struck and killed a pedestrian on Forest Avenue last Thursday.

The 58-year-old woman, who authorities did not identify, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center after police received a tip she was lying in the roadway.

She was later pronounced dead.

Mascaro was remanded to Bergen County Jail, authorities say, pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
