Ordinance Would Combine Health and Human Services Departments

The Mayor and Council will consider an ordinance combining the Health and Human Services departments at their meeting Tuesday.

The combined department will have five divisions: environmental health, personal health services, vital statistics, health education and human services. Like the current Department of Health, the new department will be overseen by the Board of Health, a five-member body nominated by the mayor.

The Mayor and Council will also consider ordinances dealing with the Recreation Commission and the Borough Administrator.

The Mayor and Council meet at 7:45 p.m. in Borough Hall. Prior to the meeting, the governing body will hold a budget meeting at 6 p.m.
