Paramus Cops Stop Man From Jumping Off IKEA Parking Deck: Report

Officials said a 20-year-old Hackensack man was dangling off the ledge of the parking deck at IKEA when officers jumped into action.

PARAMUS, NJ — Officers from the Paramus Police Department likely saved a man's life on Sunday, according to reports.

NJ.com said a man was seated on the ledge of the parking deck at IKEA's Westfield Garden State Plaza location when police found him around 8 p.m. Sunday.

According to the reports, Officers William Stallone and Nicholas Tanelli located the man, whose feet were dangling off the side of the structure, and quickly removed him from the ledge.

He was taken to New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for a mental health evaluation, police told NJ.com.

On Facebook, the department confirmed the report, saying "great job by our officers."

According to the department, and a Patch report, a 58-year-old woman jumped to her death at the same location in April 2019.
