Paramus PBA Endorses Amato And Clark For Borough Council

Ralph Amato and Chris Clark are members of Mayor Richard LaBarbiera's Paramus First Team.

PARAMUS, N.J. — The Paramus Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 186 (PBA) endorsed Ralph Amato and Chris Clark Wednesday for election to the Borough Council.

Democrats Amato and Clark are members of Mayor Richard LaBarbiera's Paramus First Team, which is running on the platform of reducing municipal taxes. LaBarbiera's team is priding itself on eliminating $10 million in debt and increasing the borough surplus from $40,000 to $12 million in five years.

“We know they understand the challenges that police officers and supervisors often face and we look forward to working with them to continue keeping Paramus safe" said PBA President Michael Cebulski.

Amato previously served on the council from 2011 to 2013 and was police commissioner for a time.

"I understand the pressure placed upon the police department,” said Amato. “We have to work in a way that allows police officers an environment that allows them to do their jobs effectively, while developing the trust and relationship with the community.”

Clark previously served on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and currently serves on the Paramus Historical Commission. He has never held elected office.

Amato and Clark are running against Republicans Jill F. Rosenfeld and Jeanne T. Weber, an incumbent.

“We appreciate the endorsement of the Paramus PBA and President Cebulski,” said Clark. “I hope we can continue building positive relationships with our community members that our police department serves and those in uniform that put their lives at risk every single day.”
