Paramus Sports: Two-Win Week for PHS Girls' Basketball
Here's a look at how some of the Paramus High School teams are performing.
The Paramus Spartan girls basketball team (10-9) won two games this week, defeating Demarest 51-37 on Tuesday, and neighboring Ridgewood 55-50 on Thursday.
Kristina Meier and Brittany Stone continued their dominant play. Meier recored back-to-back 20 point games and Stone chipped with 18 points in both contests.
On Thursday, the Spartans led the Maroons 30-19 at the half and were able to overcome strong performances by Kelci Smesko (20 points) and Meghan Roxas (19 points).

"We played well as a team and made our shots," head coach Vic DiPasquale said of Thursday's game.
The Spartan wrestling team defeated Bergenfield 35-28 in the first round of the state tournament. In the second round, Paramus fell to High Point 48-20.

Nick Alpher (28-2) is two wins shy of eclipsing the all-time career win mark of 129, which he can achieve on Saturday.
The Paramus hockey team is 10-8-3 and qualified for the state tournament by defeating Demarest 10-6 .
The Spartans followed up the win over the Norsemen with a 5-4 setback to Hackensack. Paramus will play the Comets again on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Ice House.
