Paramus Team Returns As Local Heroes

After a 5-2 loss against Pennsylvania cost them entry into the World Series, a crowd of supporters greeted the Paramus Little League team at Paramus High School.

A large crowd of fans, family members and town officials greeted the Paramus Little League team upon their return from a hard in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament championship game on Monday.

The loss cost the team their chance to compete in the Little League World Series this Friday.

Sirens wailing from local fire trucks at the scene, the 13 teammates arrived on the back of a pickup truck to the parking lot of Paramus High School (PHS). The high school football team even left their poisition on the practice field to offer their support.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera congratulated the boys on their "remarkable" performance throughout the series.

Manager Frank Smith said although the loss made it a tough day for the team, their accomplishment marks a milestone for Paramus.

"I could not be more proud of any one of you guys," Smith said.

Nick DeNigris, replacement pitcher, said the big welcome really lifted his spirits.

"I was upset at first [after the game], but once we came back and saw the crowd we all got happy again," DeNigris said. "I saw 13 faces light up."
