School Board Names New Superintendent

Kenneth J. Rota will serve as the permanent replacement for James Montesano starting July 1.

Kenneth J. Rota will serve as the new superintendent of Paramus Public Schools effective July 1, after the appointed him to the position Monday.

Rota will be the permanent superintendent after James Montesano in Nyack more than a year ago.

Rota is currently the superintendent of the East Rutherford school district. In his 27-year career in education, he also served as a high school principal, assistant principal, guidance counselor, teacher and coach.

"We are very fortunate to have a lifelong educator with an excellent reputation to lead the Paramus school district to the next level of student success," Board of Education president Tony Feorenzo said in a statement. "Mr. Rota has a proven track record of improving student performance."

Rota said he was excited to come to Paramus.

"I look forward to beginning my work in the district," he said.

Joseph Lupo served as acting superintendent after Montesano left. Board of Education president Tony Feorenzo thanked him for filling in during the search for a permanent replacement.

"On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Dr. Lupo for accepting the position and keeping the district moving forward while the Board looked for a permanent superintendent," he said.

The Board of Education plans to schedule a "meet the superintendent" night to introduce Rota to the community.
