Uniqlo Leases Space at Garden State Plaza

The Japanese clothing store has aggressive expansion plans

Uniqlo, a Japanese clothing retail chain, is looking to aggressively grow this year.

The chain's plans include Paramus, where the retailer has signed a lease at Garden State Plaza, the New York Times reports.

Uniqolo plans to open a 46,000 square foot store at the Plaza, The Record reports. The store is supplanting recently closed Old Navy.

The chain hopes the Paramus location will be the first of many mall stores in America, the Japan Daily Press reports. Known as "The Gap of Japan," Uniqlo hopes to become just as recognizable as its American counterpart.
