Uniqlo laid out its plans Thursday for its new store at the , where the retailer is replacing Old Navy.
Architect William Commer said the Uniqlo building would be about four feet shorter than the tallest point of the Old Navy store. The arched facade of Old Navy would be replaced by a more traditional leveled building.
The Planning Board approved the store's application for six red and white signs reading "Uniqlo" in English and Japanese. Borough code allows for a maximum of four signs per tenant.

Commer said the number and size of the signs are much less than what was previously allowed for Old Navy.
While the facade of the store is completely reconstructed, Uniqlo plans to erect a 20-foot-tall barricade to hide the construction and protect pedestrians. Borough Engineer Pete Ten Kate asked that Uniqulo submit a structural review of the proposed barricade, citing concerns about the amount of wind coming in from nearby Route 17.

The barricade will only stand for 120 days, Commer said.
Uniqlo is expected to open in August.
